Academic Institutions

The Company has active partnerships with Cornell University, Farleigh Dickinson, the University of Cambridge and Columbia University. These partnerships include sustainability roundtables, panel discussions, and research related to sustainability best practices, professional development and educational programs.

The Arbor Day Foundation

As part of its strategic initiatives, Wyndham Green partners with the Arbor Day Foundation, a 501(c)3 conservation and education organization that is the largest nonprofit membership organization dedicated to planting trees. Wyndham Vacation Ownership, the Company’s vacation timeshare business unit, participates with the Foundation as part of the Rain Forest Rescue® Project, which supports shade-grown coffee. The project preserves 27 million square feet of rainforest each year and helps to provide coffee growers with access to fair wages, health care and better housing and schooling for their children. Additionally, Wyndham Vacation Ownership launched the Wyndham® Million Trees Project, an initiative to raise $1 million to help plant one million trees in U.S. national forests. In 2016 the Company reached this goal, celebrating by planting a symbolic tree at each of its corporate offices.

American Hotel & Lodging Association

American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) is the only national association representing all sectors and stakeholders in the lodging industry. AH&LA provides members with national advocacy on Capitol Hill, public relations and image management, education, research and information, and other value-added services to provide bottom line savings and ensure a positive business climate for the lodging industry.

Faith Taylor, Wyndham Worldwide’s senior vice president of Corporate Responsibility chairs the Environmental and Engineering Committee and participates in the Green Task Force outlining industry best practices such as AH&LA Green Guidelines

 

American Resort Development Association

The American Resort Development Association (ARDA) is a professional association representing the vacation ownership and resort development industries. Established in 1969, ARDA today has nearly 1,000 corporate members. The membership also includes timeshare owner associations, resort management companies, and owners through the ARDA Resort Owners Coalition.

In 2012 and 2013, Wyndham Vacation Ownership won the ARDA Award for Green Sustainable Program within a Company for their Wyndham Green program.

U.S. Department of Energy's Better Buildings Challenge

To further develop our commitment in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, Wyndham Worldwide is a partner in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Challenge. Launched in 2011 by President Obama, the program supports commercial and industrial building owners by providing technical assistance and proven solutions to energy efficiency. Wyndham Worldwide has committed to a 25% energy reduction by 2025.

Clinton Global Initiative (CGI)

The mission of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) is to inspire, connect and empower a community of global leaders to forge solutions to the world's most pressing challenges.  Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the CGI convenes global leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to the world's most pressing challenges. In 2012, Wyndham Worldwide partnered with the Clinton Global Initiative to make commitments to meet our carbon reduction goals and improve the energy efficiency of the Wyndham Worldwide portfolio.

 

The Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education

Since 2011, Wyndham Green has worked with The Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education to develop a Green Collegiate program and recognize sustainability best practices in the hotel industry.

 

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy (Energy Star®)

Energy Star® is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us protect the environment while saving money through energy efficient products and practices. EPA's ENERGY STAR® partnership offers a proven energy management strategy that helps in measuring current energy performance, setting goals, tracking savings and rewarding improvements.

International Tourism Partnership

The International Tourism Partnership (ITP) is a membership organization of leading companies from the travel and tourism industry. Their aim is to provide the hotel, travel and tourism industry with the knowledge and ability to develop practical solutions for more responsible business. ITP participated in the rollout of the Hotel Carbon Measurement Initiative where over 15,000 hotels are participating.

 

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) leads the nation's environmental science, research, education and assessment efforts.  The mission of the EPA is to protect human health and the evironment. 

 

U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit organization that certifies sustainable businesses, homes, hospitals, schools and neighborhoods. The USGBC is dedicated to expanding green building practices and education through its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System™.

USGBC participated in the development of the Hospitality Existing Building program and a green certification and technical assistance program for hotels in the state of New Jersey, along with the Department of Environmental Protection Sustainability and Energy Group. Faith Taylor, senior vice president, corporate responsibility, Wyndham Worldwide serves on the board of USGBC of NJ and heads the hospitality committee.

 

World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC)

World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) is the forum for business leaders in the Travel & Tourism industry. With chief executives from the world's leading Travel & Tourism companies as its members, WTTC has a unique mandate and overview on all matters related to Travel & Tourism.

WTTC, along with Wyndham Worldwide and the International Tourism Partnership, participated in the establishment of carbon metric guidelines for the hotel industry called the Hotel Carbon Measurement Initiative.
